Kakikata is built on open data from the Japanese language community. We are grateful to the people who created and maintain it.

Data sources

  • JLPT kanji lists: Jonathan Waller's lists attanos.co.uk, licensed under Creative Commons "BY" (terms). The Japan Foundation has not published official kanji lists for the JLPT since 2010, so these lists are unofficial estimates.
  • Font: Noto Sans JP, licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

The example words were chosen and the example sentences were written for this site, using only kanji from the same JLPT level or below.

The worksheets and PDFs on this site are licensed underCC BY-SA 4.0. You are free to print, copy and share them, including in classrooms, as long as you credit Kakikata (kanji.chanyama.com) and the sources above, and share any adapted version under the same license.
